I think it's a decent deal. He scores most of his goals in the second half of the season. Your really doing him a disservice calling him a championship player, and Defoe over Chris wood? Are you actually being serious? Defoe is 40 years old lol.

Championship striker? The only players who have scored double figures as consistently as Wood has in the last 4 years are Kane Salah, Vardy, Lacazette and Son. Hes also scored 30% of Burnleys goals since being there. This screams lazy journalism

Chris Wood scores in double figures. Proven. Buying any striker in Jan is almost impossible. Newcastle are fighting. Moving in the transfer market more than any other club. Trying to survive. They had no striker at all on the eve of Chris Wood's signing. Now they have a striker. That is astute business. Your expectations will be met in time. These owners are not in it just to make up the numbers. I doubt any club can compete with their resources and long term ambition.

Think he is a canny signing for us Buvey – he is PL proven and won't need time to find his feet. He's an experienced player and leader which we need in a relegation battle – also weakens a rival team in that regard. He gives us a much needed focal point in attack and gives us the option to hit long balls from Trippier, Shelvey and Maxi. Think he could thrive and prove to be a great signing. Worst case scenario, if we go down, he will be a good option to help fire in the goals to get us promoted back with his physical style.

We needed a striker in before Saturday, so we had to go for someone with a release clause. If he helps us get the win against Watford he's worth every penny, it's a must win game. It also leaves a relegation rival a man down. I'll take it.

We've got a few players who can put good balls into the box for Wood. Trippier, Shelvey, Ritchie and Murphy are good crossers of the ball. Wood is quite underrated on the floor, he's not just a striker who is good in the air. His goal record in the Prem is similar to Callum Wilson's record so he knows where the net is. Wood scored a lot of goals at Leeds in the Championship as well.

I think it is a good deal but it makes me worried about the possible future of Burnley in the prem i know cornet i brilliant but i think it will hit them hard loosing one of their best players
