I would never have dropped Kepa for Chelsea – Shaka Hislop | Premier League

ESPN FC’s Shaka Hislop discusses the current situation with Kepa Arrizabalaga at Chelsea ahead of their Premier League match vs. Manchester United. Kepa was dropped for the Blues’ last game vs. Leicester for 38-year-old Willy Caballero who Hislop describes how he doesn’t see him as “any kind of solution” for Chelsea from now until the end of the season.

  1. Remember last season he was one of our best players last season save us many times especially in the europa league.. kepa was shaky this season i think he's been scapegoat as well… but imo.. he needs a new top gk coach not hilario hilario is nobody to teach kepa last season nensi coach him look at him last season…

  2. 7 or 8! Shaka what did u smoke !!! Kepa is 5 at best! Shaka ur comments on this r clearly confused n lost! A player underperforming massively and u keep playing him! No wonder you are jst a pundit! If u managed a club like this, u’ll be sacked before 90mins

  3. As far as I know, Caballero had a 50% save percentage in the game against Chelsea. As far as I know Kepa has a 50% save percentage tallying all the games Kepa has played in this season. If we are talking stats, Caballero did just as good as Kepa could have done… Maybe Shaka can look in his crystal ball and tell us how Kepa will perform in his next outing??

  4. i did see an article recently where he broke up with his childhood sweetheart of nine years,if that is indeed the case and they were together since he was about 12 years old then his dip in form is more understandable,in my opinion he should not have been dropped and will be back.

  5. It is easy to say when you are not the one (manager) whose head is on the chopping block.

Continuously playing a player who is not performing sends a wrong message to those who are playing better and can greatly be a source of discouragement.

  6. I agree on the face of it. Surely Frank Lampard has seen something and I trust his experience and judgement. It’s crazy because Kepa has been THE reason we’ve saved games. He’s prevented us from losing two and three points so many times from point blank range. On the other side of the coin he’s been guilty of awful decision making that has led to unnecessary goals.
