NEWCASTLE UNITED NEWS | PRESS CONFERENCE REACTION

Eddie Howe has spoken to the media ahead of the big game at Elland Road tomorrow as Newcastle United take on Leeds United.

It has been a frustrating week in the transfer market as Newcastle really wanted to strengthen their side ahead of the game. A centre back was clearly needed as Diego Carlos was very heavily linked but has yet to make the switch.

During the press conference Eddie spoke about current injuries, Chris Wood as well as changing the mentality of the players during training this week.

You lucky sobs, Norwich trashed Watford 3-0.
It's like God wants you to stay up. Guess we will know soon (at the transfer deadline cuz the current squad is prime relegation material).

  2. Ketsbaia9

Lascelles and Clark are crap. Fernández and Schar should have been playing in every game this season. We'd have more points now if they were playing. Lewis should have come in earlier too. I don't rate him, but he's our only natural left back.

  3. Christopher Davis

It's far too quiet for me regarding transfers, Eriksen, Carlos, Ekitike, Lingard and Aubameyang. Something needs to change for us very soon, unless the owners are content with a season in the Championship.

  4. SiFixIt

No striker we have can open a defence when ASM gets the ball and dances around everybody. They just get too much time to set up the defence and then the moments gone

18 games to go and what, 7 losses 7 wins 4 draws should probably keep us up, that means we can afford to lose whilst we try and sort out transfers who can get us the wins we need. We still have a chance, very slim with the current squad but it's a chance.

  6. Airyed

I wanna switch the team up for the Leeds game

    Dub

    Trippier Las Sch Fraser lb

    Joelinton Shelvey

    Almiron Willock ASM

    Wood

yes I know that's a risk but Fraser's pace isn't good enough anymore in an attacking threat and I think he offers more then Dummett attacking wise at lb and I would bring Willock in as I think Wood is too isolated and Willock definitely a threat in the box and Almiron to deal with Raphina

  7. Bruce Nicoll

It's looking like too little too late in this transfer window talk is cheap put your money were your mouth is Geordies hearts are bleeding for the club Geordies never back down from a good old fight black and white army toon toon

This squad is crap! It's too late now to survive this season!! Before we get new players in we need to get rid of the garbage that's still there. Ritchie, Shar, Lascelles, Hendrick, Gayle, the Longstaffs, Shelvey, Clark, Krafth and Gillespie should all be moved on or released before we sign anybody else? Deadwood is always cut out before you can start a rebuild (construction or personal). Howe is beginning to sound like dickhead Bruce.I would rather he play some of our youngsters than the drivel playing at the moment, even if it means us going down. The above players have been great servants but they have passed their sale buy dates or not been good enough. Going down will put us back awhile but we need to start afresh. Bring in new blood with pedigree and time on their side

  9. Audrey Hall

I think everybody needs a reality check here.
14 years of shite cant be put right quickly.
Why cant all the fans be positive even if they go down it might be a blessing jettisoning the dead wood.
As the song goes….. thi gs can only get bettter

  10. Ulfur Karlsson

Cmon Toon Fans, we have been relegated before, in the long run, we will improve, Kirean Trippier and Chris Wood will help the team, and we still have a fighting chance, if we go down it's not the end of the world, let's move on, time will tell how things turn out, lets try bit optimism

  11. Abu Bilal

Not being funny I'm all for Eddie howe but he's coming across like Bruce a bit with sugar coating the situation and players, I was hoping he would have a bit about him and just say it how it is! That's why tuchel, klopp and pep are where they are because they say it how it is. I just really wanted a manager who has a bit a balls about him and tbh that part of him will lose his job ?

  12. MORE TEA VICAR?

Newcastle have been dominated so much i'm surprised there isn't a red light outside the dressing room…Lol.

    Always getting shafted…Lol.

Blimey if we didn't laugh we'd cry.

Loved the show Paul. Brilliant as usual & being off work poorly at the minute i look forward to it.

  13. Paul Guise

Hiya Paul, I hope you get rid of covid soon I always think of your Type 1 diabetes hopefully you'll be fully vaccinated, haway the lads and grab a win at Leeds tomorrow without Jamal Leselles, this is Paul in Whitehaven, Cumbria

  14. Calzonie

I’m starting to think these owners have no clue what they’re doing they’ll pay £25 mill for 32 year old Chris Wood but won’t pay £26 mill for a promising striker in Ekitike and haggling over a few mill for other players cause thr amount of failed transfers is scary I think they know we’re going down

  15. TOON ARMY

Paul I usually agree with your opinions but u have to understand the position we are in, we are obviously going to struggle to bring players in because of our position in the leaugue plus January is tough anyway. Eddie howe will keep us up, even with the team we have. We will get 2 or 3 more in before Feb 1st have some faith ffs.

  16. Paul Hodgson

Paul what's your thoughts on out team who go after the players who are on transfers. Are they confident to move in the hi stakes and close deals. Or do we need a new team for summer who can be respected and get things done? ?

  17. Chris Barton

Duncan castles has a story on saying that Hammond and Staveley are doing the transfers and she's assumed the role of cheif exec can see where the. Daft clauses they are supposedly offering to. Teams is coming from as for Hammond what's. He ever done

  18. Grant Pietersen

But how can u say we going for players thts not woth over 30million cuz tht is the most we wana pay for players yet Carlos value is abt 50million as well as Zapata i watch Atalantas game n tht guy is next level yet we dnt wana get the 30million asking price

  19. Ian Nichol

Wood was seemingly in a wrestling match with his marker, all frigging game. He forgot he was in a football game. When Howe said Wood had a good game you have to question wtf is Howe doing? I am not convinced we have a manager that has the capacity to keep us in the premiership.

  20. Shana Jackson

To be honest I am having doubts that the new owners are willing to spend the type of money needed to get us competing with Man city, Liverpool and Chelsea. I mean they will not even offer the valuation of the players they have bid on, and these valuations are not massive when you put the transfers of similar players like Harry Maguire into context. Instead they put in really low bids knowing fine well they would be rejected. So they offer 20-30 million for a 40 million player, and then even more confusing is they buy a 5 million rated player for 25 million (Wood). They know we need players to avoid relegation and so far they have wasted this transfer window trying to get them in. Now compare this to City or Chelsea, they spend 80 million on one player and they don't mess around they pay what the player is worth. This richest club in the world bs is just that, bs. I think our owners have future targets to compete for a top 8-10 teams in PL not actually go all out with ambition to win it. I hope I am wrong, but the signs so far look like I am right tbh.
