Fraternal Twin Parenting Concerns

Identity and Your Fraternal Twin

For the most part, throughout this article I refer to a fraternal twin in the singular rather than the plural «twins.» This is to emphasize the individuality of each twin. Too often twins are defined only by their being a part of a whole, rather than by their own individual identity. This can be very damaging emotionally, especially during the time children are struggling to establish their own self worth and place in the world.

Treat your fraternal twin as the autonomous, unique child they are. Genetically, fraternal twins are no more similar than their siblings who were born one at a time, and they certainly have personalities all their own. DNA tests can be performed to determine which type of twins your children are – fraternal, identical, etc. Far too often people look too hard for similarities between fraternal twins that simply aren’t there – and in the meanwhile, they miss the opportunity to get to know each twin individually.

As a parent, do everything in your power to encourage each twin as they develop their own identities. If one wants to play soccer and the other has a passion for bagpipes, encourage each of them to work hard and excel at what they want to do. You will be doing the twins and the world a gross disservice by pigeon-holing both children into the same activity just because they happened to be born at the same time.

At the same time you are encouraging and accepting the difference between your fraternal twin and her brother, accentuate the similarities. There is no doubt your twins will share a special bond, if for no other reason than that they are growing up with a sibling their same age. The bond that fraternal twins share can be the source of love and support throughout their lives, and you would hate to destroy that by being overeager to make them lead different lives.Dressing Your Twins Alike

When they are little, it probably matters very little what you dress your twins in. But when your fraternal twin starts to become conscious of the fact that she is different than most people, you will need to be especially sensitive to her needs with regards to establishing her individual identity. Simply put, if your children like being dressed the same, do it; if they don’t, do them and yourself the favor of letting them wear different clothes.

In the end, as is the case with all children, there is no clear cut answer when it comes to the best way to raise your twins. Learn everything you can from those who have been there and done that, but trust your parental intuition and do what’s best for your kids. Finally, remember that «the most important work you will ever do will be within the walls of your own home.»

Soccer Team Position, Soccer Team Players Position and Set up, 5-4-1 Team Set up

5.4.1,

Defense;

5, defenders,

The addition to this defensive style is a central defender who can control the play from the back line.
This defender could also be an attacking player who will feed through balls to the striker. In addition to this the play maker will help create and initialze an attack from the defensive edge of the mid-field.
It can be thought that this player is also a mid-field player when the attack is mounted.

This team has this formation of positions in order not to lose.
They do not want goals scored against them and are usually willing to have a single goal scored for them and will to play for a draw, albeit 0-0.
It is also possible that their goalkeeper is not the "best" in the league.

It is possible however that this team has also been set up to play a strong attacking team.

This would mean that the coaching staff has done their homework and scouted the opposition.
All in all this team is more prepared to defend as opposed to attack.
This team is an opportunistic attacking team and will usually attack against the run of play.
This happens when the opposing team has made a mistake.

This system and idea can also produce and utilize the positions and concepts known as "wing back".
These are the players who can make over-lapping runs from their defensive ends right to the opposing goal lines.

When communicated properly the following happens.

1) A full on attack has been launched.
At least 5 are attacking simultaneously.

2) The outside midfield has now become support, over lapping and or cutting in and out when and where necessary.

3) Positons have changed to reflect those areas (space) not covered.
The attacking team has changed the zonal aspects and created a player mis-match numerically.

4, mid-fielders are usually arranged as outside left, inside left, inside right and outside right.
The outside players are called, wingers or flank players and are also involved in striking the goal.

This would make this line up have a possibility of 4 strikers at any given time.
These wingers usually have the bulk of the running to do as they could carry the ball from the defending third and into the attacking third.

This also depends on the team strategy as outlined by the coaching staff.

The two inside midfielders are supposed to be the "play makers". These are the individuals who are responsible for carrying out the plans the coach and players have designed and used as the methods of attack and goal scoring.
These positions have traditionally played these roles. However nowadays the play making comes from anyone and sometimes all the players at any given time.
These inside players have also been more defensive in their general on field play.
This defensive idea is to stop the opposition from creating attacking options.

This team will require a midfield who is willing to strike the goal at any given time.
Usualy 2 of these players are latent strikers.
They might feel confident that the defense is solid and willing to step up into the middle third of the field.
They then work in unison with the striker / forward.

This team is usually confident of their lone striker.
The striker in this formation actually acts as a post-up player. This means that this striker usually plays with the opposing defense at his / her back.
This player will try and stretch the defense, will receive the ball to lay it back to the oncoming team-mates to close the ground / space that this striker has created.

The cycle continues until a good scoring opportunity has been formulated.

Occationally this striker will turn and attack the goal when the timing is right.
This is usually communicated to the strikers by their team-mates.
However a great striker will sense these situations based on the run of play and the opportunities that this striker has created.

All About Soccer Balls

There are a variety of things to consider when buying a soccer ball. The size of the ball varies with the different league standards and age groups. Therefore it is important to check the specific soccer league rules to make sure the ball matches a particular organization.

Different size and weight

A soccer ball is categorized by size and weight to make sure it is appropriate for the age group playing the game. A Size 3 (11 to 12 oz in weight and 23 to 24 inch in circumference) and size 4 (12 to 13 oz and 25 to 26 inch) soccer ball is preferred for the youths and children aged 13 or less. A size 5 (14 to 16 oz and 27 to 28 inch) ball is a standardized adult ball and used in professional soccer leagues, college, and high school.

Care & Maintenance

General care and maintenance of the soccer ball is certain to help extend its usable life. Avoid putting excess stress on the ball like standing or sitting on it. This can easily damage the pressure system and warp the shape or structure. It helps to avoid kicking the ball against a hard surface like a concrete wall. Also, avoid player a game of kick about on a rocky or rough surface like asphalt or gravel. This can easily lead to abrasion or puncturing.

Pressure Ratings

A regular inspection of the pressure rating is certain to help maintain the performance of the soccer ball. A ball needs to be maintained with the proper pressure that is not too firm, and not too soft. A ball over inflated is too hard and can cause injuries to the players. A low inflated ball is not likely to roll or bounce properly, which can make passing and controlling the ball more difficult. Ideally, a soccer ball should have a pressure range of 6 to 8-lbs. Most balls state the preferred rating on the outer skin.

Cleaning

A soccer ball played on an outside pitch needs a regular clean to avoid issues with water absorption and general deterioration. A ball cleaned with a mild soap and warm water is certain to help preserve its performance. Avoid using a harsh cleaner agent since this can damage the construction material. Also, make sure to store the ball correctly. Avoid leave it in a place with very low temperatures, in direct sunlight, or heavy rain. Any of these conditions can result in warping and water retention.

World Cup 2010 – Semi Final Preview

What a great World Cup it has been.

Although it pains me to say it, Germany have been the best team thus far. In particular Thomas Muller of Bayern Munich, something about the way he runs and moves is old fashioned and for some reason reminds me of jelly as the movements are just unpredictable.

Like any good team they appear to have the recipe for success. A lucky goalkeeper, Tall organised back four, Good holding Player, A left footed pocket rocket, Dribbling magicians and a Goal Poacher.

You can decide which player fit into which brackets.

So what of the others.. Second in line to the thrown would have to be Spain however not on form on this occasion. David Villa has been exceptional and so much so that had he been injured for this tournament Spain would already be back home by now. The rest of the team has looked jaded and idea-less which is unlike the Spain that has emerged as a new powerhouse over the past two years.

If only Torres clicks into gear he could go onto to win them the tournament.

Then comes Holland.. Have been effective up to this point with both Sneijder and Robben the main dangermen, The defence is always a worry against quick strikers however they haven’t conceded many.

And finally Uruguay or should i say Diego Forlan, He is of course there only hope in the semi against Holland, On form and scoring goals he will be one to watch for the dutch back line. The rest of the team are willing runners and movers however the new hand of god Luiz Suarez will be missing and this could upset the balance which has seen them into the Semi Finals.

Result Prediction

Spain 1-1 Germany Germany to progress on Penaltys

Holland 2-1 Uruguay Holland to progress in Normal Time

Main Men to watch:

David Villa

Bastian Schweinstiger

Miroslave Klose

Wesley Sneijder

Arjen Robben

Diego Forlan

Get the vuvuzela ready as we are in for a thrill ride in the next two matches.

Soccer Coaching – Soccer Tactics Lessons From the World Cup

Below are 8 lessons about soccer tactics and strategy that I learned from the 2010 World Cup:

1. Soccer Formations and Tactics Make a Difference. If you listened to the commentators, they made some excellent points about this. Argentina, for example, played a 4-1-2-1-2 formation which left them defensively strong in the center (between the 2 goals) but vulnerable to attacks down the sideline. (They also had the problem of their Midfielders not going back to help defend). Spain was criticized for continuing to attack down the center when it wasn’t working. The commentators felt they should have attacked down the sidelines and then crossed the ball in to the Center. Germany played a 4-2-3-1 which gave them more width.

2. Adaptability is Critical to Soccer Coaching Success. If you want to beat tough teams, you must be willing to adapt your formation and Style of Play and put players in positions where they can be effective against your competition. An example: The England coach played Defoe instead of Heskey in the critical match against Slovenia and Defoe scored the goal that won the game.

3. Never Give Up. The U.S. had 2 goals disallowed that should have counted — one vs. Slovenia and one vs. Algeria — yet they persevered.

4. «Boom Ball» Can Even Work in the Soccer World Cup. Some people mistake every long ball for a «Boom Ball». That isn’t true, but I will go with that term here for fun. If you have an attacker pushed up and send the ball long and your attacker can win the ball, it is a «tactic» that can result in a scoring opportunity. In England vs. Germany, there were hundreds of short passes, but the first goal scored (in the 19th minute) was on a very long goal kick that Klose ran on to and one-touched for a goal. The fourth goal in that game was also a «Boom Ball» when on a counterattack Germany sent a long ball to a breaking attacker. The Netherlands first goal vs. Slovakia was also a breakaway on a long ball. And in the final, late in the match Spain even started booming the ball to get it away from their goal.

5. Short Corner Kicks («Short Corners») are Better for Youth Soccer Teams. I loved the way Spain mixed up short and long corner kicks. Even the Dutch tried one and had a good chance with it. I recommend Short Corners for youth teams because they teach possession and control.

6. Great Soccer Goalkeeping Makes a Difference. In this World Cup we could see what a difference great goalkeeping makes.

7. Don’t Disrespect Your Opponent, You Might Motivate Them. Maradona disrespected Germany and they crushed Argentina 4-0.

8. Organization and Discipline Usually Beats Lack of Organization and Lack of Discipline. Germany, Spain, Netherlands and Uruguay are all well organized and disciplined.
