No-See-Ems Are a Terrible Pest

No-see-ems are perhaps the most annoying pest. And 2017 is a banner year in the coastal areas of South Carolina and Georgia. But what is a no-see-em and how can you avoid them?

No-see-ems are a very small pest also called sand fleas, sand gnats, midges, punkies or other four letter words not fit to print. They aren't invisible, but certainly small enough that you don't know they are there until you feel their unmistakable bite. If you see them in sunlight, they appear like lint or dust flying in the air. But make no mistake, these lightweight, tiny particles floating around you are there for only one reason – to bite you with razor sharp teeth and suck your blood.

No-see-ems breed in moist soil. This can be the pluff mud at the edge of the marsh, in irrigated yards, and there's a special fondness for athletic fields and golf courses. If you are a soccer player, you know exactly what these blood suckers are!

This coastal area of the world is a delight until the glorious days of Spring and Fall when around dusk, you are repeatedly bitten by the nearly invisible bugs referred to as flying teeth. To the locals, the only true name is No-see-ems.

These annoying pests are magnetized to your carbon dioxide as you exhale. They are also drawn in when you perspire. Their favorite location is your hair as they burrow towards your scalp and begin to feast. Bites of no-see-ems are like tiny, sharp stings as though being pricked with a needle. Then the bites immediately begin to itch.

Some victims are attacked along every square inch of exposed skin with a vengeance matched only by piranhas. Just a few moments outdoors for some can produce dozens of bites. And if you have an allergic reaction, may God help you.

No one is immune and some are like magnets. And the worst part is that if you want to be outside, so do they. Beautiful days with sunny, mild temperatures that beckon us outdoors means these monsters will be lurking.

What to do? Create a personal bubble of protection using a safe, natural product known to control no-see-ems. You can spray yourself, you can infuse your clothes, and you can even create large areas without no-see-ems by putting the product through your irrigation system!

Take back the beautiful days of Spring and Fall and control no-see-ems!

7.19 Tips To Deal With Life In A Recession

1) STOP STRESSING OUT

What do you have to lose by taking a little time to just breathe or block the world out for a moment? Times are rough for a lot of people right now and they tend to communicate that to many others virally creating a deeper emotional depression for all those who will listen. The key here is to "STOP LISTENING" for ten or twenty minutes a day. More importantly, stop thinking about those bills, the broken stove, little Susie's braces … whatever. Have a cup of tea in your closet if you have to and think of something or a time when you were pretty worry-free. The world doesn't stop when you do, but sometimes you just have to let it go ahead for a second.

2) PICK UP A CAUSE

When my siblings and I would complain about how tough times were, mom in her great wisdom would always remind us "there is always someone worse off than you, be happy". Try volunteering a couple of hours a week at a charity or coach your kid's soccer team. It gives you something different to fight for, focusing your energy on finding a solution with the Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, local church groups etc. You think things are tough on you? Try being that kid dying of cancer then moan about your late car payment.

3) CLEAN HOUSE

Clear through all the crap you've accumulated over the past few years and have a garage sale, hell through it all on E-bay. You'd be amazed how much you can make on a regular basis. There's a market for just about anything out there even that retarded beer bottle collection from college. My loving wife made almost a thousand dollars selling off old baby clothes, magazines and knick knacks that were just taking up space. It's funny how we moved from an 1100 square foot apartment to a house double the size and filled it with stuff in less than a year!

4) START A BUSINESS

Okay, not everybody's cut out to run Microsoft or Google, but may be you can expand your E bay tactics to blossom into something more consistent. The girlfriend of a good buddy made over $ 3000 a month reselling "great deals" like antiques, odd art and anything she found cute. If you are any good around the kitchen, try opening a small catering business — what can you do with an extra $ 500 a month? Auto insurance, gas, credit cards, invest may be?

5) USE THE GOVERNMENT

Federal and local governments have numerous programs to help with food, utility bills, and daycare expenses. As person who has lived through every strata of society (filthy rich to welfare and back within my first twenty years of life), I can honestly say it's better to have money than not. The key is if you have fallen on hard times you can't be too proud to ask for help to feed your kids. What the hell good are you if you can't feed your family?

May be you don't qualify or want to apply for these programs, fine. By forming a business (as easy as becoming a sole proprietor) you could take advantage of countless deductions and expenses allowed in the federal tax code to increase your return. Please consult your tax advisor about your particular situation.

6) TURN OFF YOUR LOCAL NEWS

Outside of the weather report your local newscast is full of useless, negative junk that warns of how your lawn can give you herpes- yeah, I said it. On occasion it has a cute story about rescuing a cat out of a tree. How the hell does that help your financial situation ?! Turn it off. The average middle-class citizen watches around an hour of local news a day. What can you do with the extra seven hours a week? May be do that charity work? May be work on that business?

7) EXERCISE

This was a tough one for me to get back into. I can hear the excuses already — "I don't have the time", "whose going to watch the kids", "I'm too tired by the time I get out of work". Absolute, utter BS

Get off your assets and hit the gym for god's sake, for your sake. If you can make time to text, gossip, surf the net every day then you can spend 30 minutes to save your life and be around to enjoy your family when we get out of this supposed recession.

It could be as simple as taking the kids for a walk with the dog for 45 minutes twice or three times a week. You're too tired at the end of work because you don't exercise. The reason your spouse would rather hang out with his / her buddies instead of cuddling with you is because you've both gained 40lbs sitting on your couch watching CSI New Brunswick rather than jogging together.

This author was a power lifter for years before falling into the "I'm too busy trap". Been there, done that. Trust, it's even tougher for a former athlete to restart, it's a mental recovery thing. No one is saying become an Olympic track star; just get off your ass.

7.19) READ DAMN IT!

If you're so worried about your finances answer this question: When was the last time you picked up a Wall Street Journal, Money section of your local paper instead of the sports section? I heard somewhere 1 in 10 houses in the America is in foreclosure. How many of those people read their mortgage paperwork cover to cover? Have you? Love it or hate it those who hold the knowledge hold the world. Bottom line is financial knowledge equals financial power. You don't have to become an economic researcher, just pick something up. You're wondering why your 401k dropped 50% this week, yet you haven't looked up what any of the funds are invested in to make a profit. Do you know what a fund is? What's diversification really mean? READ SOMETHING!

Changing Trends in Women’s Sportswear

The recent times have witnessed the growing participation of women sportsperson in all kinds of sports. In fact, there is hardly any sport that has not been played and won by sportswomen today. Therefore, it is imperative that with the rising interest of women in sports, the requirement for women’s sportswear is also on the rise. Besides, there has also been a huge transformation from the type of clothes that women were asked to wear previously and the kind of sports-wear that they are exhibiting now. Gone is the era when women sportspersons were worn in unfashionable full clothes and the aware and independent sportswomen of the current times choose to wear clothes that facilitates freedom of movement required in playing all sorts of games.

Women Sports Wear Creates Fashion Statement

In keeping with the women’s demand for fashionable attire, the sportswomen also have established the trend of sporting fashionable sportswear as previously done by their male counterparts. Businessmen also have decided to cash on the opportunity and have launched a diverse range of women sportswear. This range of women sportswear is available in exotic shades, prints and patterns. The fashionable sportswear has become quite popular among the modern youth who want to create a style statement and want to look their best.

Types Of Women Sports Wear

The range of women sportswear includes T-shirts, shorts, tracksuits, sweat pants and jerseys. The trendy and innovative designs in fashion sportswear has also enticed the youth to wear them as casuals. The use cutting-edge technology has also assisted in the manufacture of an exclusive range of sophisticated women’s sportswear.

Women Sports Wear, A Necessity

The advantage of this variety of sportswear light in the light weight features that do not hamper free body movement of the player. These are entirely designed for complete flexibility and freedom to play. For instance, the sportswear designed for judo and karate women players is fabrcated to suit the structure of a woman’s body. In the same vein, an athlete, badminton player or a table tennis sport player would demand for a comfortable and light weighted sports wear clothes to give full concentration on the game only. Cloistering attire on the other hand, would only result in distraction and inconvenience.

Moreover, the internet has become a hub for acquiring women sportswear of all varieties. The modern sports wear clothes has revolutionized the complete outlook of the appearance of the sportswomen. They no longer have to deny their feminism in a bid for gaining the respect of their peers in a previously male-dominated sports world. Now the sports women look equally stunning and appealing as any other top celebrity while they play.

Soccer Coaching – Soccer Tactics Lessons From the World Cup

Below are 8 lessons about soccer tactics and strategy that I learned from the 2010 World Cup:

1. Soccer Formations and Tactics Make a Difference. If you listened to the commentators, they made some excellent points about this. Argentina, for example, played a 4-1-2-1-2 formation which left them defensively strong in the center (between the 2 goals) but vulnerable to attacks down the sideline. (They also had the problem of their Midfielders not going back to help defend). Spain was criticized for continuing to attack down the center when it wasn’t working. The commentators felt they should have attacked down the sidelines and then crossed the ball in to the Center. Germany played a 4-2-3-1 which gave them more width.

2. Adaptability is Critical to Soccer Coaching Success. If you want to beat tough teams, you must be willing to adapt your formation and Style of Play and put players in positions where they can be effective against your competition. An example: The England coach played Defoe instead of Heskey in the critical match against Slovenia and Defoe scored the goal that won the game.

3. Never Give Up. The U.S. had 2 goals disallowed that should have counted — one vs. Slovenia and one vs. Algeria — yet they persevered.

4. «Boom Ball» Can Even Work in the Soccer World Cup. Some people mistake every long ball for a «Boom Ball». That isn’t true, but I will go with that term here for fun. If you have an attacker pushed up and send the ball long and your attacker can win the ball, it is a «tactic» that can result in a scoring opportunity. In England vs. Germany, there were hundreds of short passes, but the first goal scored (in the 19th minute) was on a very long goal kick that Klose ran on to and one-touched for a goal. The fourth goal in that game was also a «Boom Ball» when on a counterattack Germany sent a long ball to a breaking attacker. The Netherlands first goal vs. Slovakia was also a breakaway on a long ball. And in the final, late in the match Spain even started booming the ball to get it away from their goal.

5. Short Corner Kicks («Short Corners») are Better for Youth Soccer Teams. I loved the way Spain mixed up short and long corner kicks. Even the Dutch tried one and had a good chance with it. I recommend Short Corners for youth teams because they teach possession and control.

6. Great Soccer Goalkeeping Makes a Difference. In this World Cup we could see what a difference great goalkeeping makes.

7. Don’t Disrespect Your Opponent, You Might Motivate Them. Maradona disrespected Germany and they crushed Argentina 4-0.

8. Organization and Discipline Usually Beats Lack of Organization and Lack of Discipline. Germany, Spain, Netherlands and Uruguay are all well organized and disciplined.

Their confidence was dealt a great blow with a 1-0 defeat suffered against Mexico. They however qualified for the quarter-final as runner-up despite the loss to Mexico.

In the quarter-finals, they came up against Australia, and they won 1-0 thanks to a second half goal coming from Christopher Nwosu to set up an exciting semi final clash with Italy. The semi final clash with Italy ended in similar fashion 1-0, with the systematic goal coming once again from Christopher Nwosu. The victory greatly motivated the Golden Eaglets were within grasp of a second FIFA U-17 World Cup trophy.

The dream was even disturbed by a determined Soviet Union, who held the Golden Eaglets to a 1-1 draw at regulation time. The Russian had taken a 6th minute lead via Yuri Nikiforov before Philip Osondu equalized for Nigeria in the 11th minute. The game had to be decided via penalties, and it was the Soviet Union that carried the day with a 4-2 triumph, after the Nigerians missed two of their spot kicks.

This was a tournament that brought out the best in a certain Philip Osondu. The mercurial midfield produced some extraordinary display throughout the tournament, that the World Football governing body-FIFA, wave him the "Adidas Golden Ball Award" Peter Ogaba, Fatai Atere, Lemmy Issa and Christopher Nwosu all like a million stars at the competition, despite losing to the USSR in the final. They were tipped as the foundation for the future Super Eagles team, but they never made it beyond the junior cadre. The team was led to the tournament by experienced coach Sebastian Broderick Imasuen.
