Biggest deference between City and Newcastle as someone who has followed City(ironically since the year after City beat Newcastle in the 76 League Cup final)is that there was a level of patience with City and the club wasn't fighting relegation. Newcastle need to avoid relegation at all costs especially with FFP as it stands and then for the fanbase to be understanding that likely the majority of the players you get will be people that have question marks over them, because the very best players will still go elsewhere, it will also be interesting to see if Newcastle can be an attractive place for people to relocate to (we all remember Keane's comments about getting players to Sunderland). Finally I don't think its fair comparing anyone to City because they where extremely lucky and had alot of things align many beyond their control, such as the fact United where coming to the end of their domination within the game and being extremely poorly managed(I mean as a club as well as as a team), the introduction of FFP after the horse had bolted, many of our risky transfers not only turning out well but players of generational ability.

Toon easy target, after 14 years of Ashley, no one expects it to be easy, no one expects over night success, everyone knows there will be good and bad days, what we have now is hope and ambition which did not exist under the previous owner.. we were just a zombie club.. its a no win situation for the toon, if they eventually become successful and win trophies it's because we bought them due to our wealth, if it all goes tits up, money does not buy success.., to really understand what is happening there, go spend sometime in Newcastle, then just maybe you will understand this much more than the money…

Man city were still a decent mid table club before takeover and yet it took them 4 years to win the league. Newcastle are in relegation zone and will most likely be relegated. And hence first they will have to qualify and then build squad. Can't see them winning even domestic cup in 5-6 years.

If Trippier has an agent he should sack him right now. Unless he has got him 500k a week, an automatic relegation release clause and he gets his contract automatically paid up. I can think of at least 12 premier clubs that would have paid the same money for him. I can't stand agents as I don't think they do anything and again I've been proven right

Newcastle are about to permanently destroy whatever crumbs of legacy they had left, big arab money is invested for only self serving arab commercialism. Buying ageing names for a club that will inevitably be relegated is senseless, I feel sorry for Newcastle fans, they won't have a team, they will have players who are looking for their last big payday.

Unfortunately yes, but it will take a long time. Man City were closer to glory than Newcastle are now when the transformation begun.

    What a stupid title!!
Newcastle will never be as good as city!! Can throw as much money as you want but doesn't guarantee success. Please do not disrespect pep and what he has done at city! Trippier went to Newcastle for the last payday, that's a fact!
